Screencastify Super Users Honored

Weymouth teachers, administrators, and students created 6,364 videos using the Screencastify Google Chrome extension this year.

While it didn’t make it past the “Elite 8” during Tech Tool March Madness, Screencastify has been the most used tech tool of the 2020-2021 school year with 661 individual video creators. Teachers, administrators, and students have used this Google Chrome extension to record their screens or create and edit video content. From asynchronous lectures, messages shared with families, and assigned video projects to just in time tutorials and even “TikTok” or “YouTube” style vlogging for fun, Screencastify made it easy for Weymouth educators and students to record, edit, and share video content.

The following super users of Screencastify were awarded certificates of Screencaster Extraordinaire for creating innovative and accessible content for their students and families: Adams, Jenna Goodwin and Linda Williams; Hamilton, Laurie Delano; Murphy principal Patrick Costello; Nash, Christan Siracusa; and Weymouth High School teachers Matthew Eldredge, Justin Galusha, Katherine Rattey, Alysia Roberts, and Anne Rowsell.

Screencastify is available to all @weymouthps.org users via the Chrome extension bar. After a user creates a screencast or webcam video the content is automatically moved to an editor, then saved in the user’s Google Drive. Recent updates to the editor include a blur tool, cropping, adding text, zoom, and merging any video clip in Google Drive. The video recorder also has new features like animation tools, trimming, and the ability to export as MP4, GIF, or MP3. Next year Screencastify will be adding even more features like closed captioning and the ability to embed questions, so stay tuned!
